The Brief:
A private client in the South West sought to commission a home cinema that would rival the finest private screening rooms in the UK. Given complete creative freedom, we designed a space where world-class technology meets architectural elegance. We were presented with a blank canvas: a raw, unfinished space within a prestigious country estate. This provided the rare opportunity to engineer a world-class cinema environment without the limitations of existing décor or layout. The client sought one of the finest residential cinemas in the UK, demanding a ‘no-compromise’ approach where world-class technology meets architectural elegance. Our goal was to design every inch of the room—from the floor up—to meet exacting professional standards.
The Experience:
Starting with a bare shell allowed us to prioritise acoustic integrity from day one. To ensure the focus remains entirely on the cinematic experience, we engineered a bespoke room-within-a-room solution. All high-performance loudspeaker components and heavy-duty acoustic treatments are entirely concealed behind a seamless fabric-walled cladding system. The result is a space that feels calm and minimalist upon entry, but transforms instantly when the system is engaged. The combination of the 4.2m screen, the bespoke cinema seating and the invisible 7.4.4 audio array creates a sense of total immersion, where the room itself disappears, leaving only the film’s narrative.
Key Features & Technology:
• Visual Excellence: A high-performance 4k projector delivering incredibly sharp, detailed visuals onto a 4.2m wide projection screen.
• Immersive Audio: A Dolby Atmos certified 7.4.4 loudspeaker array from PMC provides a detailed, object-based sound from all directions.
• Star Ceiling: A hand-commissioned feature utilizing 2400 individual optical filaments with a full-spectrum chromatic engine for seamless lighting transitions.
• Bespoke Seating: Three tiers of custom-made reclining seating, ensuring every guest has an unobstructed, front-row view.
